Review & publish

The path every change takes before it goes live.

Articles never go live without human approval. A reviewer approves a specific version, and if the content changes afterwards the approval no longer applies. Landing page copy moves through save draft, preview and publish.

The article workflow

  1. 1Draft: edit the article in the editor; changes autosave.
  2. 2Submit: submit for review and the status becomes pending review.
  3. 3Review: a reviewer checks the preview and the AI review in the Review articles queue.
  4. 4Approve: the reviewer approves and the article becomes approved.
  5. 5Publish: a publisher or higher publishes it, or it goes out on the publish schedule.

The review queue

  • The queue has two tabs: Web & API Channel and WordPress channel.
  • Filter by status, AI review, site, content type, keyword and campaign.
  • Run AI Review to see scores for quality, SEO, brand and sourcing, an overall score and any blocking reasons.
  • The AI verdict is one of Ready, Needs approval, Needs revision or Unreviewed.
Even a Ready verdict never approves or publishes an article by itself. A person always approves.

Approvals are bound to a version

  • Approving records the article content at that moment.
  • Editing the content after approval returns the article to pending review.
  • A reviewer can withdraw approval, sending the article back to pending review or back to draft for the writer to fix.
  • Once an article is no longer approved, any scheduled auto-publish is cancelled.
Approvals are bound to a version. If you edit after approval, it needs review again.

Pre-publish checks

  • The Publish button stays disabled until the article is approved.
  • You cannot publish while the article has no author or still has technical errors.
  • Critical SEO issues also block publishing, but you can override them with Publish anyway.
  • After publishing, use Unpublish to take the article down.

For landing pages

  1. 1Edit the fields and save them as a draft.
  2. 2Check the real page before publishing in the signed preview. Preview links expire.
  3. 3Publish; the live page revalidates automatically.
