Widths are estimates from per-character widths (one full-width character ≈ two half-width ones). Google may rewrite titles and descriptions to match the query, so the live result can differ.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use

  1. 1Enter the page title, meta description and URL. The site name is optional.
  2. 2Check the estimated width and the Fits / Near the limit / Likely truncated status for desktop and mobile.
  3. 3Use the preview below to see how the result looks and where it gets cut with "…", and adjust the copy.

When it helps

  • Making sure the key words of a title stay visible in search results before you publish.
  • Judging titles that mix Japanese and Latin characters, where character count alone is misleading.
  • Agreeing on the mobile appearance with editors or clients.

FAQ

Why width instead of character count?

Google truncates results by rendered width, not by character count. A full-width character takes roughly twice the room of a half-width one, so Japanese titles get cut at fewer characters than English ones. This tool uses about 30 full-width characters (around 600px) as the desktop title guide.

Can the live result differ from the preview?

Yes. Widths are estimates from per-character widths, and Google may rewrite titles and descriptions to fit the query. Use the result as a guide to a length that is unlikely to be cut.

Does it generate meta tags?

This tool only previews the result. For the HTML tags themselves, use the Meta Tag Generator.
